Dihydromyrcenol CAS: 18479-58-8

Dihydromyrcenol is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a distinctive, pleasant odor. It is an acyclic terpenic alcohol that is most commonly used as a solvent or additive.

Most dihydromyrcenol is utilized for the perfume and personal care industry. Perfumiers describe the scent as being a fresh, citrus-lime aroma with woody base notes and a metallic sweetness. It is a major component of almost all contemporary fine fragrances, so much so that it has been called the “god molecule” of the perfume industry. Dihydromyrcenol is an excellent base for citrus, floral, or lavender scents, especially in formulations designed for men.

In addition to fine fragrances, dihydromyrcenol can also be used in soaps, detergents, shampoos, deodorant, air fresheners, fabric softeners, and cosmetics. It does not easily oxidize or deteriorate, so products scented with this compound are fragrant for a long time.

Dihydromyrcenol can also be used as a laboratory reagent for synthesizing bioampiphilic polymers.
