Stearamide is a saturated fatty acid amide with a white to clear crystalline or flaky powder. It is insoluble in water, but soluble in alcohol and ether.

Stearamide is most commonly used in manufacture of plastics and PVC. It acts as a lubricant for many applications such as paper, rubber textiles, paints, inks, coatings, and adhesives. It can also be used as a corrosion inhibitor in oil wells.
