Glycol ether EM, also called ethylene glycol methyl ether or 2-methoxyethanol, is an ether of ethylene oxide and methanol. It is a specialty glycol ether not produced in Dow Chemical Cellosolve or Caribitol glycol ether collections. Like all glycol ethers, it is a clear and colorless liquid with a mild odor.

applications:

The primary use of glycol ethers is as industrial solvents, because they are miscible with both water and organic liquids. Glycol ether EM is most commonly used for resins, dyes, and varnishes. It’s the smallest possible glycol ether chain, so is therefore the most hydrophilic and most volatile glycol ether in our product range.
